Advanced registration remains closed due to maximum capacity at each location. Onsite registration at each location will open on the respective dates at 7:30 a.m. (please note onsite registration fees increase by $50).

Program Highlights:

The AHCA 2017 Joint Training for Assisted Living Facilities offers interpretations of regulatory compliance by leaders from the Agency for Health Care Administration and Department of Health. Clinical and legal professionals will also highlight best practice guidelines and professional guidance. Networking tables will also be available from Florida's Long-Term Care Ombudsman and other LTC stakeholders.

8:45 to 9:30 a.m.  Role and Responsibility of Hospice in Assisted Living
Florida Hospice & Palliative Care Association

Hospice representatives will present on the roles and responsibilities of hospice and the hospice caregiver. Included will be a discussion of how to coordinate hospice care for residents who desire to age-in-place, and when they recommend residents to move to a higher level of care.

9:45 to 11:00 a.m. 
Top 10 Deficiencies and Agency Updates, Including Cause of Citations

The top 10 deficiencies and why they were cited will be presented, giving attendees
information to use to improve quality in their assisted living centers. Additional updates will include refund issues, background screening clearinghouse updates, unlicensed facilities and other regulatory updates.

Florida Department of Health Updates: Legionella and Other News

Florida Department of Health representatives will present information about Legionella prevention, including water management plans, and other important updates. The information will assist providers to comply with the June 2, 2017, CMS S&C Memo, Requirement to Reduce Legionella Risk in Healthcare Facility Water Systems to Prevent Cases and Outbreaks of Legionnaires’ Disease.

Who Can Sign? Advance Directives, Authorizations and Arbitrations

Just because you got it signed, is it good? Attendees will learn about good practices for determining who is authorized to sign the contract, advance directives and arbitrations. Many questions about advance directives will be addressed in this presentation.

Medicaid Issues

Information and updates will be presented for Assisted Living Providers about Medicaid and opportunities for providers who enter Florida’s Statewide Medicaid Managed Care system.

On-site registration fees increase $50 in each category.


Advanced registration is closed. All registrations after that date must be made onsite for an additional $50 fee. *Registrations without payment will not be processed. Registrations cannot be taken by phone.

Cancellation Policy:

All cancellations must be in writing. A $50 administrative fee will be charged for each cancellation. No refunds will be given for cancellations received less than 5 business days prior to the seminar.
