The AHCA 2020 Joint Training for Assisted Living Facilities offers interpretations of the latest regulatory compliance by leaders from the Agency for Health Care Administration and will directly address the current public health emergency infection control issues and emergency response updates. Clinical and operation professionals will highlight best practice guidelines and provide guidance on how facilities can continue to improve their overall operations and resident care practices. Featured speakers includes representatives from the Agency for Health Care Administration, the Florida Department of Health, and R.B. Health Partners, to share their assisted living and long term care expert advice. Attendees will have the opportunity to submit online questions to engage with state survey officials and learn about the latest regulatory requirements directly from AHCA.

Join our presenters live on October 15, 2020, with an opportunity to ask questions for immediate feedback. All presentations will be recorded and made available to registered attendees for on-demand viewing through October 30, 2020.

Continuing Education

FHCA is seeking approval for 6 hours of continuing education – Provider Number 50-720: Florida Board of Nursing Home Administrators, Florida Board of Nursing, Florida Board of Clinical Social Work and Florida Board of Occupational Therapy. Registration Policies

Registrations made after October 12 will be assessed an additional $50 fee. Registration confirmations will be emailed to each attendee. Please note this may take up to 7 days. Cancellation and refund requests for registrations must be submitted in writing to swood@fhca.org by October 1, 2020 to be eligible for a refund and are subject to a $50 cancellation fee.

#1 - New Changes in Assisted Living Facility Regulations (1.5 CEUs)    
Serita Evans, AHCA

Regulation of assisted living facilities continues to evolve and change. Session attendees will learn about the latest assisted living facility regulation changes from legislation that was passed in 2020. The Agency will present the changes with guidance so the provider will fully understand the new regulation for implementation.

Assisted living facilities are presented with particular challenges for meeting infection control requirements in the current environment. Session attendees will understand infection control basics necessary to protect those living and working in the varied levels of an assisted living facility.

#3 - Top 10 Opportunities for Improvement (1 CEU)

Striving for the highest level of compliance with regulations is a worthy yet challenging goal. Session attendees will learn about the current top 10 opportunities to improve compliance and achieve better survey outcomes. The presenter will give detailed examples of potential citations to help providers in developing best practices and to take steps to close identified gaps.

#4 - Infection Control Lessons Learned from COVID-19 (1 CEU)

Health Care Associated Infection Prevention is a fundamental infection control element of the profession. Nychie Dotson with the Department of Health will share real-world examples observed in the field during the COVID-19 Pandemic, along with guidance on best practices for infection control.

#5 - Emergency Preparedness Planning and Management Updates for Pandemic Response (1 CEU)

Now more than ever, critical preparedness and response planning during a pandemic are at the forefront of long term care facility requirements. Attendees will learn new Agency emergency preparedness and management updates needed to ensure that residents and staff are safe during all-hazard emergencies including pandemics.
