More changes are coming to assisted living facility regulations. Join us for an in-depth review of the legislation just signed into law by Governor DeSantis and effective on July 1, 2020.  We will break it down and provide you with the information you need so that you can easily remain in compliance during this busy time.  Learn about pieces of the legislation that will make the assisted living experience better for Florida’s seniors, operators, and staff.

Speaker Information:

Susan E. Anderson, Esq., Director of Assisted Living Public Policy, LeadingAge Florida
Susan Anderson currently serves as the Director of Assisted Living Public Policy for LeadingAge Florida. In this position, she concentrates on managing the legislative, regulatory, and policy activities on behalf of association members for assisted living and related senior living settings.

Ms. Anderson has past experience as the Vice President of Public Policy for the Florida Senior Living Association, the General Counsel for the Florida Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, and as an Assistant General Counsel within the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. In these positions, she had primary responsibility for developing public policy positions, advising on regulatory compliance, legislative activities, rulemaking, contracting, and public employment litigation. Previously in private practice, Ms. Anderson represented clients operating senior housing communities in the areas of business development and operation matters, commercial litigation, alternative dispute resolution, landlord-tenant disputes, housing discrimination, and residential leasing.

Ms. Anderson has experience in application of Chapter 120, Florida Statutes, which governs State of Florida administrative practice. She has strong connections with many state agencies and is involved in licensing and enforcement issues. Ms. Anderson assists the association’s members with statutory and rule compliance and has extensive knowledge of Florida’s assisted living law. Ms. Anderson has been an active member of the Florida Bar since 2002.
