ICD-10 Coding Workshop

Wednesday, May 15, 2019
     8:30 am – 1:00 pm | St. Pete, FL

Attend this training to understand the ICD-10-CM Coding requirements for the new SNF Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) that takes effect on 10/1/19. Since this new payment system relies on patient condition rather than therapy minutes for reimbursement, it will be crucial for SNFs to have accurate ICD-10-Coding. The session will focus on how to accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, including an overview of ICD-10CM coding conventions and the official coding guidelines.

This workshop will:
o Review hospital and physician payment systems and how this impacts documentation and billing for SNFs
o Learn the structure and organization of ICD-10-CM/PCS
o Learn techniques for using the ICD-10-CM manual
o Apply coding conventions and guidelines for proper ICD-10-CM code assignment
o Recognize documentation deficiencies that could lead to ICD-10-CM/PCS code errors or unspecified code assignment
o Understand best practice for the assignment of ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, and sequencing for optimal billing for SNFs
o Identify diagnosis codes that will impact the Case Mix Group for PT, OT, SLP and NTA in the upcoming Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM)
o Examine the MDS 3.0 sections and item fields that have a relationship to ICD- 10 coding under PDPM
