Disruption and Transformation: Technology Trends in Senior Living

Wednesday, April 18, 2018

                              8:30 am – 4:30 pm

                                    Orlando, FL

Technology is disrupting, and in some cases, fundamentally transforming senior living. Whether they are improving daily operations, introducing entirely new care models, simply meeting the changing demands of residents, or monitoring your residents and caregivers without your knowledge, technologies are changing the way our members do business. Join us for this one-day workshop to learn more about the technologies that are already here, those that are on the way, and best practices for dealing with both. Click here for the agenda.

Sessions will include:

It’s In Your Building: Technology, Security, and the Law
Tatiana Melnik, Attorney, Melnik Legal PLLC
A bill that would have required providers to allow video monitoring died in the legislature this year, but the issue isn’t going away. Similar legislative efforts are likely to arise in the future. In the meantime, families are already putting video cameras in residents’ rooms, and employees can take and post photos and videos of residents from their smart phones in real time. While these kinds of technologies can clearly deliver benefits, they also introduce a number of new concerns about security, privacy, and other legal issues. This session will explore these issues, offer guidance to providers, and suggest policies and procedures to protect your communities and your residents.

Cyber Security in Senior Living: What You Need to Know to Keep Your Organization Safe and Secure, John DiMaggio, CEO, BlueOrange Compliance

Winning the Hearts of Boomers, How to be Irresistible to Seniors, Lisa Cini, President & CEO, Mosaic Design Studio
Senior Living (SL) will prove daunting for those providers unwilling to adapt a "concierge" service model & offer the latest in technology that helps residents & staff live fuller, healthier & more purposeful lives. In a time where we struggle to get WiFi throughout the building, it is time to wake-up! This presentation will share the current state of the union related to quality of life in SL & what we all need to do in order to be the preferred Boomer provider.

Emerging Technologies Transforming Healthcare, Michael O. Bice, Health Informatics Consultants, Board Member, Bon Secours
The expanded use of emerging technologies such as robotics, telemedicine, and voice activated devices hold great promise to improve the aging experience and to mitigate the pressures faced by families and caregivers. Broadly speaking, corporate purchasers and consumers of these products and services need a framework of analysis, a sense of the dynamic marketplace for such services, and a discerning eye for quality, privacy, and value.

Technology 360: Strategy, Compliance, Operations, Daniel J. Cavolo, President, The Loyola Group, LLC
This session will include strategy, compliance and operations as it relates to the ever-changing world of technology. Outlining an IT strategic plan, learning how to qualify and prioritize IT projects while maintaining security compliance, and building effective IT teams and right size IT budgets for the future will be reviewed.
