Advanced registration remains closed due to maximum capacity at each location. Onsite registration at each location will open on the respective dates at 7:30 a.m. (please note onsite registration fees increase by $50).


Program Highlights:

The AHCA 2017 Joint Training for Skilled Nursing Facilities offers a forum for the Agency for Health Care Administration and leading long term care experts to brief providers, advocates and state surveyors on regulatory compliance with enforcement provisions explained. Networking tables will be available from Florida's Long Term Care Ombudsman and other LTC stakeholders.

8:45 to 9:15 a.m.  The CMS National Nursing Home Quality Care Collaborative: Assisting Nursing Homes to Implement the Revised Medicare and Medicaid Requirements Gazelle Zeya, Nursing Home Director, and Jo Ann Bukovinsky, Associate Director, Health Services Advisory Group

Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG) representatives will help attendees discover how they improve quality when they collaborate with HSAG. Learn about HSAG’s Medicare quality improvement initiatives and tools available to help centers reach quality improvement goals.
9:15 to 10:15 a.m.  Top 10 Deficiencies and Hot Topics/Increase in Immediate Jeopardies - Examples & Cause of Citations
Mary Maloney, Government Analyst II, and Donah Heiberg, Government Analyst II, AHCA

AHCA will present on the top 10 deficiencies and why they were cited using actual case studies. Topics include a discussion of the increase in Immediate Jeopardies (IJs) in Florida.

Florida Department of Health Updates: Legionella and Other News

Florida Department of Health representatives will present information about Legionella prevention, including requirements for a water management plan, and other important updates. The information will assist providers to comply with the June 2, 2017 CMS S&C Memo: Requirement to Reduce Legionella Risk in Healthcare Facility Water Systems to Prevent Cases and Outbreaks of Legionnaires’ Disease.

The CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule: What it Means for Florida Providers

Florida’s CEMP rule has been in place for many years, and now CMS has released the Emergency Preparedness Rule with emergency operations plan requirements, too. What is different in these requirements? Attendees will learn how to implement the new CMS Rule requirements (deadline November 15, 2017), with their existing Florida CEMP.
 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. Getting it Right: PASRR Program Review

The facility must have a complete and accurate PASRR screening to receive payment for Medicaid services rendered. CARES will present on how to make sure the PASRR is correct and what will result in a denial.

CMS Mega Rule Update and New Survey Process

AHCA will present an update on the CMS Mega Rule using the recently released Interpretive Guidance and the New Survey Process that will be used to monitor facility compliance.

On-site registration fees increase $50 in each category.


Policies:

Advanced registration is closed. All registrations after that date must be made onsite for an additional $50 fee. *Registrations without payment will not be processed. Registrations cannot be taken by phone.


Cancellation Policy:

All cancellations must be in writing. A $50 administrative fee will be charged for each cancellation. No refunds will be given for cancellations received less than 5 business days prior to the seminar.
