Infection Prevention and Control Workshop

May 8 & 9, 2017

Description: Our expert will explain the regulations surrounding an Infection Prevention and Control Program within a long-term care community. This informative and entertaining workshop includes:

  • The regulation and basis for the role of Infection Prevention and Control Officer and what needs to be included in the Infection Prevention and Control Program.
  • Explanation of surveillance and reporting duties tied to the role of Infection Prevention and Control Officer.
  • Guidance for your leadership team in defining and adhering to an Antibiotic Stewardship program that will protect and enhance the lives of the residents.
  • In depth analysis of illnesses most common to residents seen in the long-term care facility and how to treat them safely while providing a home-like environment for residents and staff.

Objectives: Register and attend this workshop and you will:

  • Describe the role of the Infection Prevention and Control Officer in long-term care.
  • Define the rules surrounding the Infection Prevention and Control Program and its significance in maintaining resident safety.
  • List the necessary components in the basic Infection Prevention and Control Program.
  • Construct surveillance of infections, including when to report and isolate.
  • Define how the Infection Prevention and Control Officer can influence and lead the leadership team to enforce Antibiotic Stewardship.
  • Identify the immunization programs required in the long-term care setting.
  • Define and compare the common infectious diseases noted in long-term care.

CEUs: Up to 12 contact hour of credit for Nursing Home Administrators, Nurses, and Social Workers licensed in the State of Florida.


Target Audience: This workshop is specifically designed to educate those having control and oversight of the Infection Prevention and Control Program, including Administrators, Directors of Nursing, Nurse Managers, Registered Nurses and the designated Infection Prevention and Control Officer.
