Emergency Management in Florida

Hurricane Season 2017 …Are You Prepared? – This year’s hurricane season is here - hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30. The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration is predicting 11 to 17 named storms, five to nine of which could become hurricanes. Of those hurricanes, NOAA’s forecast calls for two to four to become major hurricanes.

Until 2016, Florida had been hurricane-free for 11 years. That came to an end last September when Category-1 Hurricane Hermine made landfall. Soon after, Category-3 Hurricane Matthew churned up the coast, leaving over a million Floridians without power.

Every hurricane season should be treated seriously, and taking simple precautions can help everyone stay safe in case of a natural disaster.
